 Week of Compassion 2010
“Do You Love Me? Feed My Sheep”
Jesus calls us to tend his sheep caught in situations of deep need. With love and energy, the Church responds! Through Week of Compassion:
- disaster victims quickly receive shelter, food, water, and medical supplies.
- local communities develop secure sources of food and clean water.
- minds and bodies grow stronger with new schools and medical clinics.
- refugees receive housing and long-term help to construct new lives.
Remember the feeding of the 5,000: when Jesus asked the disciples to feed the thronging crowd, the disciples despaired (Mark 6:34-44). The five loaves and two fish seemed insignificant compared to the massive need. Yet when each gave sacrificially from what they had, through God’s blessing, their gifts turned into a miracle of compassion for all. Through Week of Compassion, our gifts meet compelling needs, while also bringing the blessing of compassion into our own lives.
Note: During the recent emergency response to the earthquake in Haiti, FCC Madisonville
donated and sent 27 baby kits, 98 hygiene kits, 58 blankets and $3,675. These
designated gifts will go to work in Haiti immediately. Our annual support of Week
of Compassion makes possible the many and varied ministries that work“around the world, around the year”

2010 West Area Work Retreat
at Camp
Kum-Ba-Ya March 19-21.
This event is for grades
6-12. It will cost $25, which includes food, lodging,
and a t-shirt. Registration deadline is Wednesday,
March 10. This is the weekend were the youth from
the West Area come and help prepare the camp for all
of the retreats that will happen during the summer.
There will be lots of work, BUT there will also be
worship, games, singing, and free time.
CAMP RALLY
Rain or Shine, April 24 at Camp
Kum-Ba-Ya
for moms, dads, grandparents, and youth
of all ages. Registration deadline is Wednesday, April 14. This CAMP RALLY is for anyone that is interested in learning more about KBY and what it has to offer.
It will be from noon-3pm on April 24.
